This Delivery & Shipping Policy outlines the delivery processes, timeframes, customer responsibilities, and collection guidelines for orders placed with Eric Barnard Meubels.
- Delivery Areas & Service Scope
- Primary Delivery Zone: We operate our own dedicated delivery fleet throughout Pretoria, Centurion, Midrand, Johannesburg, and surrounding Gauteng areas.
- Regional & National Deliveries: Deliveries outside of Gauteng (e.g., North West, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and nationwide) are facilitated via reputable, vetted third-party logistics and furniture freight carriers.
- In-Store Collection: Customers may elect to collect purchases directly from our Waverley showroom/dispatch warehouse free of delivery charges.
- Lead Times and Dispatch Schedules
- In-Stock Items: Items held in stock at our warehouse are typically scheduled and dispatched within 3 to 7 business days following receipt and clearance of full payment.
- Made-to-Order & Custom Items: Custom upholstery, specific fabric/leather selections, and custom timber dimensions typically carry a manufacturing lead time of 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the factory schedules of our manufacturing partners (such as La-Z-Boy, Alpine Lounge, Grafton Everest, Sealy, and Cloud Nine).
- Delivery Slots: Deliveries are conducted Monday to Friday between 08:30 and 16:30, and on Saturdays by prior arrangement. You will be contacted at least 24 hours prior to dispatch to confirm an approximate delivery window.
- Delivery Rates
- Delivery fees are calculated based on the delivery destination’s distance from our Waverley showroom, the bulk/volume of the goods, and route accessibility.
- Delivery rates are quoted separately and are not included in the standard showroom or catalog retail price unless an explicit promotional offer applies.
- Any additional toll fees, complex permits, or specialized access charges must be confirmed and settled prior to dispatch.
- Property Access & Customer Responsibilities
Due to the bulky and heavy nature of furniture, lounge suites, and bedding, the customer must ensure safe and suitable access to the delivery site:
- Clear Passage: Ensure all pathways, entrances, stairwells, internal doorways, and elevators are measured and clear of obstructions (e.g., picture frames, light fittings, rugs).
- Delivery Restrictions: Our standard delivery team will deliver items into the designated room on the ground floor. If delivery requires carrying items up multiple flights of narrow stairs, using balconies, or using hoisting equipment, this must be disclosed and quoted prior to dispatch.
- Damage Disclaimer: While our delivery crew takes the utmost care, Eric Barnard Meubels and its drivers cannot accept liability for accidental damage caused to tight walls, door frames, or stairwells when instructed by the customer to force oversized furniture through inadequate entry points.
- Customer Presence: An adult authorized to inspect and accept the order must be present at the address during the agreed time window. If a delivery fails because no authorized recipient was available, a re-delivery fee will apply.
- Inspection, Acceptance, and Transit Damages
- Mandatory Physical Check: The recipient must inspect the condition and completeness of all pieces prior to signing the delivery receipt.
- Damaged or Missing Items:
- If packaging or items show visible tears, indentations, broken legs, or defects, the recipient must note this directly on the driver’s physical delivery note or electronic proof of delivery.
- Clear photos of the outer packaging and damaged product must be taken immediately.
- Report the incident within 48 hours to info@ericbarnard.co.za or call 012 333 9899.
- Signed Receipts: Signing the delivery receipt without noting any damages or missing parts serves as prima facie confirmation that goods were handed over complete and free of external cosmetic damage.
- Assembly & Packaging Disposal
- Basic Placement: Our in-house delivery team will unwrap and position standard lounge suites, recliners, and bed sets inside your room of choice, provided access is clear.
- Assembly: Recliner backrests and bed legs are fitted on-site by our delivery crew where feasible. Flat-pack items or specialized wall units may require separate assembly arrangements.
- Packaging Removal: Our drivers will remove protective cardboard and plastic wrap upon request at the time of delivery. If you prefer to retain the packaging, please inform the team before they leave.
- Showroom Collections (Click & Collect)
- Notification: You will be notified by telephone or WhatsApp as soon as your order has been received and checked at our warehouse.
- Collection Times: Collections can be made during standard showroom trading hours:
- Monday to Friday: 08:30 – 16:00
- Sunday: 08:30 – 13:00
- Requirements: Present your original invoice or order confirmation and a valid form of ID (South African ID or driver’s license) upon collection.
- Securing the Load: Customers collecting in their own vehicles or trailers are responsible for inspecting the items at dispatch and providing adequate tie-down ropes, blankets, and strapping. Eric Barnard Meubels cannot accept liability for damages incurred once goods are loaded and depart our premises.
